Q. What are the benefits of a landscape lighting system?
A. In general there are four primary benefits of a landcape lighting system:
Safety, Security, Beauty, and increaing property Value.
Q. Why install a low voltage lighting system?
A. First of all, low voltage lighting is safer and more energy efficient than line voltage. It is approximately 1/3 the cost of operating a 120 volt system. Additionally, low voltage lighting systems have greater versatility allowing for a more custom design to artistically showcase your property.
If you are concerned that low voltage means low light consider this. Your car headlights are low voltage.
Q. Why work with an outdoor lighting specialist over a landscaper?
A. Although some landscapers provide lighting services they lack the expertise to properly design, install, and troubleshoot systems.
Specialists like ourselves make a living providing one service with passion, pride, and integrity. We make use of the many tools and techniques utilized in our industry - unlike landscapers who buy off the shelf and are familiar with only one installation method.
Q. When should I start planning for an outdoor lighting system?
A. At the same time you begin planning any landscape work (new install, remodel, or hardscape). Please note, many of our installations are to existing landscapes where nothing else is being done but lighting.
Regardless of when you decide you want outdoor lighting we can work with you.
Q. If I provide the materials will you do the design and installation?
A. Only under certain circumstances will we consider this type of project.
Q. I have an existing system that malfunctions or doesn't work. Should I replace it?
A. Many existing systems are of good quality if professionally installed, but neglect for years can cause them to deteriorate. We not only specialize in new system installation, but we will repair and maintain your current system and keep it running for years. We offer a one and two year maintainance agreement that would involve replacing bulbs and O-rings, straightning fixtures, resetting timers and replacing any stained glass from hard water.
Q. Do you service lighting systems like Malibu or kit systems?
A. In most cases the cost to service these types of systms is more than the system cost. Once they start to fail they have basically reached the end of their life. We will not waste your money in an effort to fix them nor do we install these types of systems.
Q. Can you leave out some lights from the original design to cut the cost?
A. Under most circumstances, straying from the original design by removing fixtures will not produce a satisfactory lighting system. Additionally, adding fixtures in the future is always more costly than doing things properly the first time. Every fixture in the design has a specific purpose in the landscape, like pieces of a puzzle. If pieces are left out, the result is unbalanced and incomplete. Focal points, accented features and transitional are all necessary components needed to create a visually pleasing night scene and add depth to your living space.
